About the Artist

“I had polio as a very young child and when I grew up I was unable to wear high-heels. So of course I longed for what I couldn’t have, high-heels and toe shoes. This unfulfilled desire has translated into a series of shoe paintings. I’m always looking for interesting, outrageous or just beautiful shoes for my paintings. I often find them at thrift stores, garage sales and estate sales. I’ve decided that if I can’t wear them I can paint them.”
